Q. Who founded the Squadron?

A. Edmond Composite Squadron was founded by 5 cadets from the Edmond Oklahoma Area.

A. The Squadron meets at the Edmond Army National Guard Armory at 600 S Bryant.

Q.  When does the squadron meet?

A.  The squadron meets on Thursday evenings. The doors open at 6:00pm and the meeting starts promptly at 6:30pm.

Q: Is a uniform required to attend a meeting?

A: No, uniforms are provided to cadets after they have been in-processed into the organization and seniors will be eligable to purchase their uniform items when their membership has processed.

Q: Are you required to join the military?

A: No, this is an all volunteer force. Although, most branches of service recognize the milestone achievements of the cadet programs (officer ranks) by allowing a rank and grade advancement immediately upon graduation of either basic training for enlistees or Officer Training School for commissioned officers. Senior members of CAP are not held to the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Q: What does it cost?

A: For cadets it's $32, for seniors it's $60. In addition to the dues, senior members will be responsible for providing most of their own uniforms. On average a senior will spend between $100 and $150 with dues and uniform costs. We can provide you with a list of local businesses that you can purchase some uniform items with at a deeply discounted rate versus new.

Q: Is active participation required?

A: Yes. We consider this program a YGOWYPI organization (You Get Out What You Put In). Active participation is the only way to experience the full benefits this organization has to offer. There are some activities that are REQUIRED for cadets in order to achieve some of the milestones. On average, there are two events per month, outside of squadron meetings, that cadets and seniors can participate in. We suggest becoming a Sponsor Member for those senior members that can't stay active due to other commitments, you're allowed to attend some activities, but not required to meet the level of active participation that regular members are required.

Q: Can I get my pilots license for free?

A: For cadets, there are programs that will help you get your pilots license at a deeply discounted rate. For seniors, CAP does not provide flight training. But we are an aviation centered organization and your membership alone CAN gain you access and discounts on flight training, materials and Certified Flight Instructors like no one else can. See the squadron commander for info.

Q: Is flying the ONLY thing CAP does?

A: Absolutely NOT. While we are centered on aviation, non pilot duty positions are available to all senior members. You will have the opportunity to gain flight status through training we will provide, but prior flying experience is NOT a pre-requisite.
